Thailand PrEP Programs

PREVENTION has been at the forefront in raising awareness and providing PrEP services in Thailand. In November 2014, we introduced the first PrEP service called PrEP-30 at the Anonymous Clinic. In the proactive stance, we initiated the visionary “Princess PrEP” program, the first key population-led PrEP initiative.

The program is a demonstration project in collaboration with FHI 360 LINKAGES, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) with funding support from the Thai Red Cross Princess Soamsawali HIV Prevention Fund and USAID/PEPFAR.

In addition to two PrEP projects, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) is conducting a demonstration project in MSM and TG women, linked to a test-and- treat study conducted by the Thai Red Cross, MoPH, USAID, USCDC and civil society organizations. The Thailand National Guidelines on HIV/AIDS Treatment and Prevention in 2014 has recommended PrEP as an additional HIV prevention method for populations at substantial risk.
